Britains Oldest Car Still On The Road!

Britain’s oldest car is still running like a champ after a whopping 107 years on the road, and can be seen on regular runs around Sherborne, Dorset.

The car, a Wolseley 6, was built in 1904 and has just passed its MOT test. According to its owner, Brian Caseley, who bought the vintage cruiser in 2004, it has never broken down. However, since the car was built before cars incorporated gauges to monitor mileage, no one knows just exactly how far the car has travelled in the past century.

The car still boasts its registration plate as well as a top speed of 29mph, which the Caseleys experience on their regular drives through their home town.

“She’s quite a regular now in the town,” Caseley told the Daily Mail. “She still runs like a dream. I’m very proud of her and love showing her off.”

In addition to the car’s spotless breakdown record, it also has certain ‘green’ benefits as well, according to Pat Caseley, Brian’s wife.

“The car has never broken down and is still as good as the day it was first made,” she said. “It runs on petrol and does around 30 to 40 miles to the gallon so is more efficient than most of today’s cars.”

After purchasing the car, Brian did some work to trace its history, and found that it originally belonged to an E H Greenly of Herefordshire. He also tracked down a descendent of Greenly’s, David Forbes, and gave him a ride in the vintage car.
