A DEVOTED Saints fan is selling what he hopes will soon be a priceless piece of memorabilia so he can attend the game he has waited for for more than 40 years.
Darrell Ackerley hopes a pre-final footy auction will land him a seat at the MCG on Saturday to see his team make history.
Mr Ackerley is auctioning his STK010 number plate on eBay and hopes the prospect of the team’s first premiership in 44 years will land him $1500 – enough cash to buy a corporate ticket to the game.
The owner will walk away with a valuable item of memorabilia – or scrap metal.
Mr Ackerley, 46, has been following the Saints since he was a boy.
“Unfortunately, I can’t remember as far back as 1966. I was only two at the time,” he said. He had a good collection of memorabilia, including signed items from players over the past 40 years and a letter from the late St Kilda legend Trevor Barker.
