MANAMA: New number plates will be introduced for all vehicles in Bahrain within three to four months, announced a top traffic official.
The current plates were introduced more than 20 years ago, said Traffic Director-General Lt Col Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Sabah Al Khalifa.
A tender has already been awarded to a specialised company for manufacturing the plates and a model has been selected.
“It’s in line with international standards and reflects our keenness to upgrade traffic services,” he said.
Lt Col Shaikh Abdulrahman said the new plates were clearer and would make it easier to identify vehicles from a long distance. He said the plates were also “hi-tech”.
