The Wizard of Mod (as in modification) tore into town in his Ferrari Enzo for the Indy-car Series this weekend, not using all of his available 392 km/h speed.
“The cops are always looking for me,” says Zahir Rana, a Calgarybased car dealer who modifies the world’s fastest cars to the whims of their owners. “I have to be careful.
“My Ferrari has a six-cylinder, V12 engine and is the fastest car of its kind in the world. The model was only built in 2003 and uses F1 technology.”
He was disappointed last year when, on a runway at CFB Cold Lake, he narrowly lost to a CF-18 fighter jet in a drag race in support of charities.
Moriarty’s was a pit stop
Rana, who runs the ZR Club for owners whose cars are capable of cruising at, say, 250 to 300 km/h, was at a reception for Indy and Indy Light drivers Friday at Moriarty’s Bistro and Wine Bar.
Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche were among the cars that lined Rice Howard Way and made the street look like a pit stop area.
Many of Rana’s Edmonton and Calgary clients sipped champagne and discussed their wishes for modifications with the man whose car registration is XX Evil.
