KARACHI: The Sindh High Court Monday directed the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department director to issue notices to the owners of vehicles with fancy number plates across the province ordering them to have their vehicles properly registered.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Tufail H Ebrahim, further ordered that any vehicle found with fancy number plates after two weeks would be impounded.
The bench was hearing suo moto case based on article written by Air Vice Marshall (r) Attaur Rehman in a newspaper, wherein he said a teenage boy driving vehicle with foreign number plate physically assaulted him.
All Pakistan Motor Dealers Association Chairman HM Shahzad, Excise and Taxation Motor Vehicle Registration Director (Admin) Dabeer A Khan, Karachi Traffic DIG Khurrum Gulzar, Appraisement Collector Nasir Masroor and other officials appeared before the court.
