Canyon Creek Car Numberplate Designed

A new logo featuring livestock and wolves, which already graces the letterhead of a state board, eventually will become a new specialty license plate.

Wendy Brenden, a 49-year-old designer who lives in wolf country northwest of Helena, won a statewide logo contest sponsored by the Livestock Loss Reduction and Mitigation Board.

A license plate featuring Brenden’s logo will be produced later this year, said George Edwards, livestock loss mitigation coordinator for the board.

A portion of the proceeds of the plate’s sales will go toward the board’s mission, which is compensating livestock producers for confirmed economic losses because of wolf depredation of sheep, cattle, horses and other animals.

An objective-looking logo appealing to a wide audience was important because the board wants to raise as much money as possible from the sale of the license plates, Edwards said.

Brenden struck the right balance, he said.
