The Eagles are adding a new wrinkle to the passing game:
Soon drivers will see team versions of official Pennsylvania license plates on rear bumpers going by.
The club also is adding a new wrinkle to the plate-buying game: an online auction.
Starting Monday at 2 p.m. fans can bid for numbers 51 to 100, with final bids staggered in groups of 10 from 11 p.m. to midnight on Nov. 21. Bidding for numbers 1 to 50 will begin at 2 p.m. on Nov. 22, with closings in the final hour of Nov. 28.
Proceeds benefit the Eagles Youth Partnership, and all but $24 of the winning bids will be tax deductible.
Flyers Wives Charities and Sixers Charities already offer Pennsylvania plates for their fans, at a cost of $50 each. The sale of New Jersey Flyers plates was suspended pending legislation, according to ComcastSpectacorFoundation.org, which notes that Delaware won’t offer Flyers plates until 200 fans have signed up.
