Vehicle leasing company Leasing Options commissioned the poll of our county's most iconic features, with Yorkshire puds topping the vote.

Henderson's Relish and the Yorkshire Wildlife Park were tied in second with the white rose and Sheffield-based comedy movie The Full Monty completing the rundown.

To celebrate what makes Britain great, Leasing Options created new number plate designs showcasing these features, ready for personalisation savvy drivers in the UK to take inspiration from.

Choosing between defining foods, influential pop culture figures, stunning historical buildings and alluring tourist attractions, Leasing Options asked Brits to identify the most iconic features of the 20 largest counties across England including South Yorkshire.

A new number plate has been designed for South Yorkshire with the most voted for quintessential feature, as well as the county flag colours and a famous local saying, all being beautifully illustrated on to a one of a kind license plate.

The top five greatest things in South Yorkshire include:

A Yorkshire pudding (35%)

Henderson’s Relish (16%)

Yorkshire Wildlife Park (16%)

The white rose (9%)

The Full Monty (7%)

Other key features of South Yorkshire which just missed out on the top five include Sheffield steel, The Crucible and the Arctic Monkeys.

Lagos State Government says it plans to introduce new number plate for commercial vehicles in the state.

Prince Olanrewaju Elegushi, the acting Commissioner for Transportation, disclosed while addressing journalists at the 2017 Ministerial briefing to mark Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode’s two years in office.

Elegushi said the new regime of commercial vehicle number plate would ensure clear identification of vehicles registered for commercial purposes.

“The state agencies like Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, Number Plate Production Agency and ministry of transportation will fine-tune the operations and issuance,” the commissioner said.

Elegushi noted that the development would bring a robust database for vehicles involved in commercial transportation to ensure safety of passengers.

The commissioner also said that the database would contain a body tag, to be fixed to the body of the vehicles for effective monitoring and redistributing of routes for businesses.

Elegushi said that about 5,000 commercial buses would be injected into the transport sector to ensure safety and spread of buses and to ease transportation challenges in the state.

“There will be introduction of uniforms for drivers and conductors to signpost a commencement of decency, discipline and quality service to the people of Lagos State.

“It is also to serve as a mode of identification and distinction between drivers and conductors,” he said.

So what are the top selling number plates in the UK? The DVLA has been selling private plates to UK motorists since 1989. During this time, there have been a number of records set, but most of the top 10 have been bought in the past 15 years. Here’s what currently makes the list:

25 0 – A Ferrari dealer bought this for £518k in 2014. It is now on a £10 million Ferrari 250 SWB.
F 1 – A businessman, Afzal Khan, bought this for £440k in 2008 and put it on his McLaren-Mercedes SLR.
S 1 – This was bought in 2008 for £404k by an anonymous buyer.
1 D – Businessman Nabil Bishara bought this plate in 2009 (before One Direction was formed, so it is not a reference to the band) for £352k.
M 1 – Businessman Mike McCoomb bought this number plate in 2006 for £331k, apparently for his son, who was 10 at the time.
VIP 1 – Chelsea owner and businessman Roman Abramovich bought this plate for £285k in 2006.
51 NGH – This number plate, which looks like the surname Singh, was sold in 2006 for £254k.
1 RH – Businessman Robert Haverson bought this in 2006 for £247k.
K1 NGS – This reg plate, which looks like the word “kings”, was bought anonymously in 1993 for £231k.
1 0 – This very simple but striking number plate was bought anonymously in 2009 for £170k.

These are large amounts of money, but they are all small compared to the top-selling number plates found in other parts of the world. Abu Dhabi, in the UAE, has the record for the most expensive number plate ever sold. That number plate was a simple “1”. It was bought in 2008 by businessman Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Khouri for £7.25 million.
