Regplates Banned, Its Official!

officials said their “Special Plate Inhibit List,” a list of banned license plates letter and number combinations, has grown to 4,758.

Candace Wanzo, head of the specialty plate department in Springfield, said she and her staff use Web sites including Google, Google Translate and urbandictionary.com to decipher the hidden messages in vanity plates requested by motorists, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.

She said the list grows by about 20 entries each week, and includes such combinations as BRKNWND, IPOOP, BYECOP, DOGLIPS, BOOGR, SKINYDP, COMMODE and numerous plates containing text message shorthand for profane phrases.

“Some of them just make me shake my head,” Wanzo said. “I can’t believe individuals would actually pick some of these plates.”
