New Virginia specialty license plates with a Blue Ridge Parkway theme could be ready in time for the fall driving season.
The General Assembly approved legislation creating the parkway plate.
The plate costs $25.
Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway says it has received more than 400 applications for the license plate. The Roanoke-based nonprofit volunteer group works to preserve and protect the parkway.
Friends board President Richard Wells told The Roanoke Times that the plates should be ready in six to nine months.
