Belvoir Numberplates Receive Backing From Senator

ORT BELVOIR, Va. – In honor of Fort Belvoir’s centennial, which is in 2012, the installation has requested the Virginia General Assembly and Gov. Robert McDonnell designate a Fort Belvoir license plate to recognize the post’s service to the nation.

Sen. Linda ‘ Toddy’ Puller (D-36th District) has agreed to sponsor the necessary legislation through the General Assembly.

“I was glad to agree to do it when Fort Belvoir representatives asked me,” Puller said. “I used to live on Belvoir by the O Club. My son was born at DeWitt Hospital. Puller’s son, Lewis Puller III, is now 42.

“Fort Belvoir is in my district. I try to take care of it,” she said. “It’s a lovely base and I’m excited and delighted to sponsor the action.”

Gus Person, the installation historian and the program’s representative, said he’d like to have more interest shown in the Belvoir plate. The plate’s initial announcement was made about a month ago.
