That oversized license plate frame could cost you extra money starting Wednesday in North Carolina.
Among several motor vehicle laws going into effect Dec. 1 is a regulation that the plate frames not obscure any printed material on license plates. That includes the numbers and letters, the state name, and even the number and month on registration renewal stickers.
Breaking that law carries a $100 fine.
The new rule was among several adopted earlier this year by the N.C. General Assembly. A few new rules took effect earlier this year, and several are scheduled to become law on Jan. 1.
