Numberplates To Honor Veterans

With Veteran’s Day on Nov. 11, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is unveiled a new series of custom license plates.

Drivers who are veterans or active-duty service members can apply for specialty plates that showcase their service by military branch or campaign.  A PennDOT representative said plates honor those who served in conflicts from World War II to Operation Enduring Freedom, the official name for the war in Afghanistan.

A complete listing of the plates is available on PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle services website.  These include plates for Gold Star Families, ex-prisoners of war, Medal of Honor and/or Purple Heart recipients, Expeditionary Forces and Pearl Harbor survivors, among the many distinctions for service branches and campaign veterans.

The page provides images of each plate and links to the appropriate application form and respective fees.
