NASCAR Registration Plates Announced

MVC Chief Administrator Raymond P. Martinez, NASCAR driver Ryan Truex, members of the Truex Racing Family, and local NASCAR drivers will gather at 1 p.m. at Wall Stadium on Route 34 in Wall, Monmouth County, to unveil the plates.

Ten of 12 of the plates feature top NASCAR drivers, including New Jersey native Martin Truex, Jr. (#56). Another is a Dale Earnhardt Hall of Fame commemorative and the remaining one simply states NASCAR fan.

The plates cost a one-time fee of $60. Personalized plates are available for an additional $50. A yearly renewal fee of $60 also applies. The costs are in addition to regular registration fees.

But two types of Jersey drivers are ineligible to obtain sports-themed license plates.

No person whose driving privilege has been revoked for any reason, including speeding or reckless driving, is elgible, nor is any person convicted of death by auto.

Martin Truex drove his first modified stock car at Wall Stadium and at the age of 18 and won the track’s prestigious Turkey Derby. The Turkey Derby will be held once again this year on the Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.
