706 car owners are owed a total of €1.23 million in refunds on the balance of the registration tax they paid in 2008, in view of amendments to the law.
Finance Minister Tonio Fenech explained in Parliament yesterday that all those who registered their vehicle in 2008 were entitled to a refund.
A total of 706 motorists had applied for a refund up to March 19, 2010.
The minister said the balance due to the motorists would become a credit on the vehicles and would be set off against the payment of vehicle licences every year.
