New number plates are coming to Southlake and they will have the Carroll Dragons logo on them.
Carroll is the first school district in the state to reach a deal with My Plates, the state of Texas’ official personalized number plate provider. The measure was approved by CISD trustees April 5.
“There is no real risk or cost for Carroll,” said Julie Thannum, district director of communication and marketing. “All we have to do is promote the opportunity for people to show their Dragon pride. I think we are the type of community that My Plates was looking for since we have a lot of tradition and pride, both in athletics as well as fine arts and academics. Everyone in Southlake is a Dragon.”
Under the five-year agreement, Carroll receives 10 percent of every number plate sold. Plates will cost $55 for one year, $195 for five years and $295 for 10 years. Carroll has to pay $2,500 upfront to help cover the implementation of the plates, but that money will be refunded when the plates go on sale.
