Numberplate Sticker Replacement – Queensland

It is reported that more than five million numberplate stickers provided to motorists during 2009 were starting to peel.

The problem began after Queensland Transport’s contractor started using a different adhesive batch at the start of last year.

The stickerless numberplate regime would allow police to check the registration of a vehicle while sitting inside patrol cars.

Western Australian police have instant access to that state’s vehicle registration database through on-board computers. They also have automatic numberplate recognition cameras, which record and assess numberplates as vehicles pass.
