LUDHIANA: Finally, in order to check the rate of vehicle theft, state government has arrived at a consensus on introduction of the concept of high-security registration number plates in the state. The scheme would be implemented in June.
Through the high-security registration number plates, state transport department intends to make vehicle-lifting relatively more difficult. The plates would have reflectors, the numbers would be raised and there would be a hologram on the plate, which would not be easy to modify.
Giving information, DS Jaspal, secretary, transport, said, “There is a high-level meeting scheduled for February 22, in which, representatives of UT and Haryana would participate. We would finalize details and have the regulation in place soon.”
