KIWI motorists are causing offence – not through bad driving, but through rude number plates.
Adopting the Australian number plate system of three letters and three numbers has led to a rise in the number of rude combinations on New Zealand’s streets.
Personalised number plates pulled off cars include DRGDLR, QUICKE and RNUDWN, according to New Zealand Transport Agency records.
Also stripped was the number plate H8PIGS, which was displayed on a former police car.
Since the Aussie look replaced the two letter, four number combination in 2001, the transport agency has also banned plates that threaten police and advertise drugs, along with 25 letter combinations like ARS, BUM, CUN, DUM, FAK and FAT.
