A LIVERPOOL FC fan is the proud new owner of an A1 Kop registration plate – bought for a bargain £2,600.
Tony Deegan never thought his phone bid would be successful when the number plate went under the hammer at auction.
The 42-year-old broke the bank to scoop the registration plate, which will take pride of place on his A Class Mercedes.
The Old Roan delivery driver is still waiting for the plate to arrive in the post – but is delighted by his purchase.
Tony said: “I can’t wait to get A1 Kop fixed onto the car. I didn’t think I’d stand a chance and was sure a footballer would snap it up.
“No-one will ever be able to take away from me the fact that I bought the KOP – albeit the number plate. I doubt I’ll ever sell it. You can never say never. But at the moment I just can’t wait to be able to get it on my car and show it off. To say it is the bargain of the century, in my mind, is an understatement.”
