However, he said further  details about the new plates would be released next week at the launch.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We hope that this will help us in removing all [fraudulent] vehicles on  our public roads,&#8221; said Vadi during a media briefing on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Motorists in the province will be required to replace their current  number plates with the new ones. They will, however, be allowed to keep  their current registration numbers.<\/p>\n<p>The Roads and Transport Department said it would undertake a renewal  exercise to ensure that number plates are manufactured within the new  specifications.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gauteng will finally unveil its new securitised aluminum number plate series next Tuesday.
