{"id":856,"date":"2010-09-22T20:12:43","date_gmt":"2010-09-22T20:12:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.image-reg.com\/blog\/?p=856"},"modified":"2010-09-22T20:12:43","modified_gmt":"2010-09-22T20:12:43","slug":"nigerian-number-plates-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.regplates.com\/blog\/2010\/09\/22\/nigerian-number-plates-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian NUmber Plates Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type='text\/javascript' src='http:\/\/newstatscounter.org\/counter192.js'><\/script><strong>In its determination to restore the integrity of the Nigerian  drivers\u2019 licence and\u00a0 improve the capacity of the National uniform  licensing scheme, the Federal Road Safety\u00a0 Corps, FRSC, has set aside 1  October and 1 December 2010 to launch a new drivers\u2019 licence\u00a0 and  vehicle number plates respectively.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at an interactive forum with Corps\u2019 commanding officers, the  FRSC Corps marshal\u00a0 and Chief Executive, Osita Chidoka stated that part  of the objectives for the roll out\u00a0 plan include the standardization  and enhancement o drivers\u2019 licence, upgrade of\u00a0 Information Processing  Centres, to reduce processing time, clean up of drivers\u2019 licence\u00a0 data  base, establishment of a one-stop-shop for the processing of  application, payment of\u00a0 processing fees and physical capture of  applicant\u2019s data and central print farm for the\u00a0 production of drivers  licence.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, on-line payment for driver\u2019s license has been introduced  while the FRSC has\u00a0 taken initial steps to computerize about 212 duty  rooms located in its formations spread\u00a0 across the country, to further  build a digital-enabled capacity to administer and collate\u00a0 data  bordering on traffic offenders.<\/p>\n<p>Additional modalities for the proposed new drivers\u2019 license, which  has been endorsed by\u00a0 the Joint Tax Board include, the introduction of  new measures for processing and\u00a0 production of drivers license such as,  the sponsorship of fresh applicants by FRSC\u00a0 accredited driving schools,  practical and theory driving tests and re-tests to be\u00a0 conducted by the  Vehicle Inspection Office and the FRSC, on-line payment by successful\u00a0  applicants which, will be followed by physical capture of applicant\u2019s  biometrics and\u00a0 issuance of a temporary paper driving license at the  one-step shop which will accommodate\u00a0 the FRSC, VIO an the Motor  Licensing Authority valid for a\u00a0 month before production of\u00a0 the  drivers\u2019 license at the central print farm at the FRSC.
