License Plate Agency will open Oct. 5. The contractor for the  office is Becky Klass, a member of the Lexington City Council.<\/p>\n<div id=\"article_text\"><!-- #forumnumcom h6 { width: 250px; float: left; margin: 18px 10px 0pt 0pt; padding: 10px 0pt 15px; border-bottom: medium none; border-top: 9px solid rgb(136, 136, 136); } --><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>The  office will be at 27 Plaza Parkway off N.C. Highway 8 South in the  space that formerly housed Radio Shack in the Lexington Parkway Plaza  shopping center. A ribbon cutting is planned for noon Oct. 4.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to serving the public,\u201d Klass said. \u201cI think it\u2019ll be a fun, stressful job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marge  Howell, a spokeswoman for the N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles, said  Klass was selected from among 30 people who applied for the job.  Branches of license plate offices are operated by private contractors,  though they\u2019re under the supervision of the DMV.<\/p>\n<p>Klass  said the office she\u2019s going to be supervising measures about 2,000  square feet. She said her goal is to make the building a nice one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re putting in granite countertops as we speak,\u201d Klass said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The office must adhere to a number of state codes, including compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Lexington branch of the N.C.
