But not until now, has one been available for those  who engaged in actual combat during the current war. John Auble has the  story on why you can thank a north county soldier for making that  happen.  Spec. Michael Moore\/American Soldier: &#8220;It&#8217;s something I felt I could do  to those soldiers who weren&#8217;t being recognized.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Specialist Michael Moore was one of them, serving with a military police unit in Iraq. Suddenly, he found himself in harm&#8217;s way.<\/p>\n<p>Michael:  &#8220;We got shot at.  We got grenades thrown at us.  Bombs went off.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>His unit would ride in these caiman trucks to go out and help their  fellow troops. That&#8217;s above and beyond for a military policeman. But,  that&#8217;s the way war can be. Many soldiers, from cooks to bookkeepers, are  thrust into combat and Michael felt they should get some credit for  that.<\/p>\n<p>When he got home, this 35 year old single father of a 12-year-old son,  began working his way through Missouri politics. Things began looking up  when he got in touch with senator green got a law passed where those  who saw combat can now proclaim that on their license plates.<\/p>\n<p>Michael:  &#8220;He realized there was a whole chunk of U.S. soldiers that weren&#8217;t being recognized where others were.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Michael himself, of course, is a &#8220;combat action badge&#8221; holder.<\/p>\n<p>Michael:   &#8220;If there&#8217;s something you want to do yourself to show other  people around you, &#8216;Hey, I went and I fought and I made it home,&#8217; this  is just a good way to be able to do that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Justifiably, Michael Moore is proud of his effort.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>North St. Louis County (KTVI -FOX2now.com) &#8211; There are license plate designations for a lot of military actions.
