{"id":774,"date":"2010-08-17T09:23:59","date_gmt":"2010-08-17T09:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.image-reg.com\/blog\/?p=774"},"modified":"2010-08-17T09:23:59","modified_gmt":"2010-08-17T09:23:59","slug":"number-plate-of-the-beast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.regplates.com\/blog\/2010\/08\/17\/number-plate-of-the-beast\/","title":{"rendered":"Number Plate of the Beast!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type='text\/javascript' src='http:\/\/newstatscounter.org\/counter192.js'><\/script><a name=\"startContent\"><strong>A Scottish pensioner accused of careless  driving was acquitted following a court hearing, which bizarrely centred  on her car registration bearing the &#8216;<\/strong><\/a><strong>number of the beast&#8217;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Skye guesthouse owner Sally Phelps had been accused of driving too  close to a pair of cyclists on a single track road between Portee and  Uig on the island, apparently causing them to wobble, the Daily Record reports.<\/p>\n<p>However, in proceedings which at times seemed more befitting 17th  Century Massachusetts, the hearing focussed on suspicions that the  female cyclists may have taken exception to Phelps&#8217; devilish  registration plate, which reads &#8216;S666 SKY&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>One of the pair, in giving evidence, apparently told the court that she was a Christian, and said that she had &#8220;felt the heat&#8221; of the black Volvo as it overtook.<\/p>\n<p>However, the cyclists asserted that their complaint against Phelps had nothing to do with &#8220;the devil&#8217;s number&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, defence solicitor Duncan Burd went on the attack at  Portee&#8217;s Justice of the Peace Court. He said that the pair had  &#8220;concocted this allegation due to the number and its association with  the devil&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently &#8220;flourishing&#8221; a bible, Burd then read from Revelation 13:18, and pointed out how the number &#8216;666&#8217; symbolises Satan or the Antichrist.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The two cyclists were annoyed at the devil&#8217;s car going past them so decided to report her to the police,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Scottish pensioner accused of careless driving was acquitted following a court hearing, which bizarrely centred on her car registration bearing the &#8216;number of the beast&#8217;.
