Every dollar  generated through the sales is matched with private donations of cash or  land. The money goes to the Reinvest in Minnesota Critical Habitat  Program. It will be used to preserve key wildlife habitat like wetlands,  prairies and forests. Revenue generated by the plates (more than $25  million) has helped buy over 10,000 acres of critical habitat open to  the public for hunting, hiking or wildlife-watching.<\/p>\n<p>Last month the DNR and The Trust for Public Land announced the  purchase of 200 acres on Dead Lake near Perham in Ottertail County. Dead  Lake is the state&#8217;s largest natural environment lake at 8,000 acres.
