His father, Shepard Broad, took him on a boat ride to  see the 300 acres of mangrove swamp that would become the town.<\/p>\n<p>He couldn&#8217;t fully appreciate his father&#8217;s vision of development at the  time, but he now beams with pride in identifying himself as the longest  living person to be connected to Bay Harbor Islands.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a  pride he shows off on the front his Lincoln Navigator through a  commemorative license plate, and he is making it possible for others to  do the same.<\/p>\n<p>Bay Harbor Island residents with an ID can pick up free Bay  Harbor Islands decorative plates at town hall, thank to a donation by  Broad.
