The award was announced at a members meeting  recently in Cedar Key.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Junior Service League of St. Augustine completed a $1.2  million restoration in 1994, the not-for-profit museum has nearly spent  an additional $1.5 million to preserve their historic structures. St.  Augustine&#8217;s maritime museum will use this new grant to restore some of  the historic walking surfaces around the Keepers&#8217; House.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The porches on our keepers&#8217; house were restored in the 1980s, and  after more than 23 years in a salt environment and thousands of visitors  passing over them, they are at the end of their lifespan,&#8221; said Deputy  Director Rick Cain of the St. Augustine Lighthouse &amp; Museum.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Florida Lighthouse Association (FLA) has awarded the St. Augustine Lighthouse &amp; Museum a $10,000 grant to preserve its historic structures.
