{"id":2841,"date":"2019-09-10T12:56:48","date_gmt":"2019-09-10T11:56:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.regplates.com\/blog\/?p=2841"},"modified":"2019-09-10T12:58:53","modified_gmt":"2019-09-10T11:58:53","slug":"v750-v778-retention-certificate-renewals-you-need-to-act-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.regplates.com\/blog\/2019\/09\/10\/v750-v778-retention-certificate-renewals-you-need-to-act-now\/","title":{"rendered":"V750 \/ V778 Retention Certificate Renewals \u2013 You need to act now!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A major change regarding certificates of entitlement (V750)\nand retention documents (V778) is coming into force on the 18th December 2019.\nThe DVLA will no longer renew ANY out of date certificates meaning that they\nwill effectively become worthless and unusable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is the official wording from the DVLA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If\nyour V750 or V778 has expired<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can buy the right to use a private registration number again if you\ngot the V750 or V778 before 9 March 2015 and it expired on or after 1 May 2011.\nYou have until 18 December 2019 to apply &#8211;&nbsp;DVLA&nbsp;will not accept\napplications after this date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It costs \u00a325 for each year that the certificate has expired. Any time\nunder 1 year costs the same as a full year, for example if your certificate\nexpired 2 years 1 month ago, you\u2019ll have to pay for 3 years (\u00a375).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fill in the form on the V750 or V778. Send it with the fee to the\naddress on the form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do not have your V750 or V778, send a letter\nto&nbsp;DVLA&nbsp;Personalised Registrations. You\u2019ll need to explain why you do\nnot have your V750 or V778. Include the fee, your private number and proof of\nyour name and address, for example your driving licence or both your passport\nand a utility bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regplates.com has always written to our customers informing them that\nthey must keep the certificate in date otherwise they will lose the rights to\ndisplay it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until recently members of the public and the trade have been able to\nrenew certificates by paying the \u00a325 fee due for each year it is out of date,\nbut this is about to stop so you need to take action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regplates.com as a private company do not have access to owner information and so have decided to issue this press release in the hope that it will save members of the public getting caught out by these changes.
