{"id":2117,"date":"2013-12-03T16:46:18","date_gmt":"2013-12-03T16:46:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.regplates.com\/blog\/?p=2117"},"modified":"2025-01-28T19:35:15","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T19:35:15","slug":"cck-1-mayoral-number-plate-up-for-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.regplates.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/03\/cck-1-mayoral-number-plate-up-for-sale\/","title":{"rendered":"CCK 1 &#8211; Mayoral Number Plate Up For Sale!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The number plate, CCK1, has been owned by <span style=\"color: #446688;\">the council<\/span> since the 1930s but will soon be offered for sale with a healthy reserve set at \u00a322,000!<\/p>\n<p>The auction will open today and run until December 20th so be quick if you fancy owning a piece of automotive history.<\/p>\n<p>Councilor Martyn Rawlinson, cabinet member for resources, said: \u201cPeople pay lots of money for personalised number plates and CCK1 is a very special plate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a first edition, historic registration that has been owned by the Mayor of Preston since the 1930s \u2013 so it\u2019s got all the history and tradition to go with it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe expect there will be a lot of interest from people wanting to own it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a council, we can\u2019t justify cutting services while the mayor drives round with a cherished number plate that\u2019s worth many thousands of pounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, we\u2019ve decided to sell the number plate and use the money raised to help balance our budgets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the age of austerity we have to be imaginative, creative and think outside the box to explore every possible way of raising money&#8221;<a id=\"KonaLink1\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lep.co.uk\/news\/business\/hard-up-city-council-sells-mayoral-registration-plate-1-6289056#\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTime has moved on now and most people don\u2019t know that CCK has a Preston connection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey just think CCK is a set of initials like the vast majority of private number plates are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the unlikely event that the registration plate fails to reach the reserve, it will not be sold and will be kept for use by the mayor.<\/p>\n<p>Several other authorities have followed this path raising considerable amounts of money for the local government from the sale of personalised number plates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The number plate, CCK1, has been owned by the council since the 1930s but will soon be offered for sale with a healthy reserve set at \u00a322,000!
