It&#8217;s one of the oldest ever to be sold at auction.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.regplates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Capture1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1905\" title=\"Million Dollar Number Plate\" src=\"http:\/\/www.regplates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Capture1.jpg\" alt=\"Million Dollar Number Plate\" width=\"293\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a high price to pay for the historic item, which displays &#8220;SA4&#8221; on the pressed-metal plate, given it was issued by the State Government in August 1906 at no cost.<\/p>\n<p>SA4 was registered by Dr A.M. Cudmore, who received it for his car, a French-made Darracq 8.<\/p>\n<p>The car was used at his medical practice, then situated on North Tce.<\/p>\n<p>But now, after more than a century in the Cudmore family, the piece of memorabilia is for sale.<\/p>\n<p>Evans &amp; Ayers Chartered Accountants consultant Ross Mathews, who is brokering the sale, said it would appeal to a collector.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These plates sell interstate for over $1\u00a0million,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Number plates expert Stewart Kay, who runs the auction website, said the item was hard to come by.
