Tom Nelson, R-Lead, is prime sponsor of the legislation, Senate Bill 107. The House Transportation Committee voted 11-0 today to endorse it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me put it another way. I really need you to pass this bill,\u201d Nelson said.<\/p>\n<p>Deb Hillmer, administrator for the state Division of Motor Vehicles, told the committee members that her agency isn\u2019t opposed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did request he reserve 1 and 2 for the governor and lieutenant governor. There are times they use 1 and 2 on the plates,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>No opponents stepped forward to testify against the bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this makes it easier for a Highway Patrolman to check on a license plate, so I think it\u2019s a good idea,\u201d Rep. Manny Steele, R-Sioux Falls, said.<\/p>\n<p>Rep.
