THE Kano State government has released\u00a0N100 million to the Internal Revenue Board \u00a0for the procurement of 20,000 number plates, which would be sold at the rate of N15,000 to motorists.<\/p>\n
This is just as the chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), \u00a0Mrs Ifeku Omogui -Okauru, said the FIRS was working towards launching \u00a0a new tax scheme aimed at registering all tax payers in the country, where individuals would have unique tax clearance identification number to ease the problem of tax collection in the country.<\/p>\n
Disclosing this at the weekend on behalf of the state governor, the state deputy governor, \u00a0Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said the government had also granted \u00a0N20 million to \u00a0the board \u00a0for the procurement of security document to enhance the sales of the new national plate numbers.<\/p>\n
He then disclosed that the number plates would be sold at the cost of \u00a0N15,000 and motorists have up to August next year to replace their number plates. He lament a situation where the nation relied on one item revue, adding that Kano State government \u00a0was working towards enhancing its internally generated revenue.<\/p>\n
To this end, Mr Kwankwaso said the government had released \u00a0N30 million to the board for the procurement of 15 operational vehicles.<\/p>\n
He expressed optimism that from the initiative and strategy employed by the board, the state would actualise its dreams of executing laudable projects.<\/p>\n
The governor, while imploring wealthy individuals in the state to understand and appreciate the government\u2019s intention by paying tax, advised the board to take cognisance of the position of ordinary individuals into consideration in their operations.<\/p>\n
