{"id":1265,"date":"2011-07-18T07:59:40","date_gmt":"2011-07-18T07:59:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.image-reg.com\/blog\/?p=1265"},"modified":"2011-07-18T07:59:40","modified_gmt":"2011-07-18T07:59:40","slug":"social-mobility-in-cherished-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.regplates.com\/blog\/2011\/07\/18\/social-mobility-in-cherished-numbers\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Mobility In Cherished Numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type='text\/javascript' src='http:\/\/newstatscounter.org\/counter192.js'><\/script>It  \t\twas reported last week that Public Relations and Public Affairs Minister  \t\tDr Mervyn Silva had written to the Inspector General of Police regarding  \t\tthe use by his staff of garage number plates.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently President Mahinda Rajapaksa had ordered him to instruct  \t\this staff to remove the said CC number plates and use the registered  \t\tplates issued by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The minister had informed the IGP that he was using vehicles bearing  \t\tWPC 2010\/2011 garage plates for security reasons, and requested him to  \t\ttake appropriate action against those who misuse his good name by  \t\tdriving vehicles bearing WPC 2010\/2011 plates.<\/p>\n<p>This story highlights a growing and worrisome trend &#8211; all manner of  \t\tpeople have been disguising their vehicles as those belonging to senior  \t\tpoliticians and civil servants.
